
| 1) | Welcome Lt. Col. John Baker Lt. Col. John Baker is a faculty member at Western Kentucky University, serving as Education Coordinator in the Leadership Studies Program, which is part of the Center for Leadership Excellence. Prior to coming to WKU in 2006, Lt. Col. Baker was an officer in the US Army for over 26 years, serving throughout the US and overseas. Various assignments included Germany (1981-1984), Ft. Ord. CA (1984-1987), Schofield Barracks, HA (1994-1997) and Japan (2001-2003). He also served as an instructor at West Point, teaching Terrain Analysis, climatology and military geography, followed by teaching stints at both Drexel University & WKU, where he taught military science and leadership. Lt. Col. Baker also is a graduate of the Army’s Command and General Staff College and is currently a doctoral student at WKU. He and his wife, Cathy, have four children: Aaron, Garrett, Emily & Alan. On Sunday, June 28, Lt. Col. Baker will speak during all three services about his service to our country and what God has taught him through the years. Our worship choir & orchestra will present music celebrating our country’s freedom, and we will recognize military personnel and veterans. |
| 2) | Backyard Bible Club Thank Yous! Thanks to everyone who helped with the Backyard Bible Clubs and block parties this month. This was a wonderful outreach to a part of our community that needs to learn of the love of Jesus. |
